Social Responsibility

For the sixth year in a row, GAP obtained the Socially Responsible Company award (ESR for its acronym in Spanish) granted by the Mexican Philanthropy Center (CEMEFI) for the active and voluntary contribution of businesses to improve social, economic and environmental conditions in areas where they operate.

As a Socially Responsible Company, GAP is committed to support the communities in which we manage our 12 airports across the country.

One of the priorities is to offer high quality education to Mexican children. Therefore, in 2013, we created the GAP Foundation, with two sizeable projects; the formation of GAP schools as well as leadership training for social entrepreneurs.

In August 2014, the first GAP school located in the same city that houses the Guadalajara International Airport, with the support of the One World Foundation and under the KIPP philosophy.

The school offers excellence in education to elementary-aged children from low-income families, who have annual income rates of between $1,500 and $6,000 Mexican pesos.

GAP is currently focused on this school and its future expansion, as well as the construction of two other schools located in Los Cabos and Tijuana, in the short-term

The project includes the opening of two additional schools every two years, which is evidence of our commitment to education in Mexico.

Another social program is the Proviváh housing program, in which GAP has participated to provide housing to low-income families in the towns of Atotonilco el Alto, Tlajomulco de Zúniga, Tijuana, Silao, Manzanillo and Los Cabos in order to support those who lost their homes as a result of Hurricane Odile. GAP is committed to contributing $14 million pesos for the construction of 500 new homes, which were delivered during 2015.
